What’s the Opportunity?

Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time, senior-level geotechnical engineer with project management experience for our Seattle, Washington office. We are seeking a candidate with strong experience in completing geotechnical engineering evaluations and design, and who is looking to expand their leadership and management responsibilities.  The position requires a candidate that has the capacity to grow, is a quick learner, detail-orientated, and a committed team player. Candidates for the position must have a M.S. degree in geotechnical engineering and a demonstrated proficiency in field sampling, slope stability and settlement assessments, seismic design, and retaining wall and foundation design in soft soils/sediments. Successful candidates will support projects with geotechnical, civil and environmental engineering design elements, and will have an opportunity to work on a variety of tasks of differing complexities, both independently and in team environments and learn directly from leaders in the industry.



  • Preparing or providing review of engineering calculations, cost estimates, design drawings, and specifications for upland and sediment remediation, waterfront development, and shoreline restoration projects
  • Preparing qualitative and quantitative analyses of geotechnical data
  • Technical writing of sampling and analysis plans, geotechnical evaluation and baseline reports, and feasibility study reports
  • Supporting field assignments, including conducting geotechnical and environmental sampling (soil, sediment, groundwater, and water quality) and providing construction management support during project implementation
  • Tracking project budgets and progress
  • Developing, coordinating, and reviewing technical project work
  • Managing tasks, including team assignments and coordination, client interaction, and production of deliverables
  • Mentoring staff, including potentially staff management


What Are We Looking For?

Candidates will have the following:

  • Masters in Geotechnical Engineering with 8 to 15 years of progressive geotechnical engineering planning and design experience
  • Experience with or interest in in-water and upland remediation sites, including the planning and implementation of field sampling and investigation programs, data analysis, feasibility studies, and geotechnical and environmental design 
  • Experience with industry-standard geotechnical computer software for slope stability, foundation design, settlement, seismic design and finite element analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Registration
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred; will be provided by Anchor QEA upon hire if not certified)
  • Transport Worker Identification Card (TWIC) certification, or the ability to receive within 1 year
  • Experience with in geotechnical and environmental sampling and data analysis
  • Ability to travel to project sites and client meetings (may be up to 20-40%, depending on project needs)
